What we do

The Janson Towers Gift Fund helps injured Okanagan Sun players get back on the field. It provides economic assistance to help cover uninsured medical costs, day-to-day living expenses, or whatever it takes to return that player to the active roster.

And why we’re doing it

CJFL (Canadian Junior Football League) football is a rough and tumble game. Injuries are common. For some players, however, even a recoverable injury can end a lifelong dream to go on and play professionally. It’s not the injury in itself that tends to be the career-ender; it’s more the economic hardship it causes. Despite the skill-level, CJFL is still amateur sport—players don’t get paid to play.

Hurt badly enough, a player can’t work. Without a paycheck, they can’t afford to support themselves, let alone the physiotherapy and orthotics associated with rehabilitation.

This Fund is Janson’s legacy. It gives something back to the team and the sport that meant so much to him.
